below: second level floor plan, one of the commune (council) rules is that the volume of the original building can't be changed (so no possibility to lift the roof) and then another regulation is that the roof line can't be cut (so no balcony can project beyond the wall line through the roof, although ironically enough the next building to us does exactly this - but the owner was sitting on the council....).
